Description
Servius Tullius is the sixth novella in the Reges Romae series. It follows Servius from the time he was a boy when an omen appeared over his head in the form of a fire through his adoption by the king, Lucius Tarquinius Priscus, to his reign as king. During his rule he build a temple to Diana as a symbol of Rome’s consolidation of power and leadership among Latin towns and instituted the census for the creation of classes, taxes, and military organization. Then, mirroring how his kingship began with the violence other committed against Priscus, he is betrayed and murdered.
